Who was Haggai?
Not much is known about him. His name literally means, “festival,” and that he was around 80 years old when he wrote this book called Haggai.
He is considered as a Minor Prophet. In the old testament, there were two types of prophets. Major and Minor. Scholars use this as a way to divide the old books.
The Major Prophets were Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel. All lengthy books. The Minor Prophets were Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.
These Minor Prophets were called the Twelve. The books they wrote were small and had a more narrow focus on the message. The beautiful thing about this is even though these books have few chapters they contain astonishing finds and so much value to be studied.
Worthy of attention and study for sure.
